Wipers

Hi,
Does anyone know what the wiper arms are from mine are looking a bit tatty and could do with some shiny new ones, plus they just look wrong..!
Have already fitted the upgraded Leven washer kit and will swap onto new arms so don't want to fork out for complete kit inc arms which I know Leven do.
OR.... Looking at my mates VW Toureg a while back noticed that the complete arm (wiper end) was flexible rubber or similar and curved nicely with the screen also had raised lip to catch the wind.
I'm wondering if the splined shaft for the arms is a standard fit and could there be a newish type of vehicle out there with this type of wiper that would be an easy swap... Anyone..?

I looked at this a while ago and concluded they were TVR specific, so went the Leven route,which was the best option then. The spindles are an old Lucas pattern (you won't believe what horrors lie concealed behind the bodywork) but I imagine will be common to loads of 70s/80s Brit stuff...Allegros, Marinas etc etc. They are tapered and not parallel sided splines though as even earlier stuff is...

If the arms are just scabby, why not strip and repaint/powder coat?

Simon at Leven is always very helpful whenever you phone him up, so since you already have one half of the wiper kit, why don't you ask if you can just purchase the arms on their own?

Yep thought about going down the take off clean up and repaint route,
BUT.. still think they look wrong.
The ends of the arms (wiper end) do not only look as if they have been bent to sit level-ish on the screen but the passenger side is upside down..
Think I'm going to investigate this one and see if there is some form of adaptor for the splined shaft.. Those blades on the Toureg certainly looked the business and would get around the curve of the Griff's screen for sure.

This is probably what I will end up doing but am always up for a challenge and think the wipers could be improved if possible.
Even thought about asking the factory on Sunday while looking around but was too busy getting video footage...
