Oli pressure drop over 3500 rpm

Here's a wierd one. My oil pressure drops to 0 when I rev over about 3500. Ease off and it pops back up. I am convinced it is not a clapped out engine, as I first noticed it at Snetterton going round Coram. Checked the level (OK) and then forgot about it as the red mist descended, and cruising into the park the pressure was back to normal. Done Bedford (twice) and Croft and Oulton since. But coming back from Oulton, noticed it again (must have been in third as I never go over the limit!). Is there a voltage regulator somewhere?

I think the first thing you need to do is find out if it could be genuine oil surge or just a gauge, taking it that you havent got a baffled sump or anything strange, if the car is stationery and you rev it to 3500 rpm and the gauge still goes down it will be the sender, if its ok staitionery but drops when driving i would say you have an oil pick up problem

The wire to the sender near the filter is probably loose.
I had the same problem a few weeks ago with these exact symptoms and this was the simple cure.

Cheers guys - sorted. And better running pressure than ever before. This must go down in the annals as the cheapest, easiest and quickest fix to a TVR problem ever!
