Just traced a slight oil leak to the reducing thread connector thingy on the oil pressure sender.

Took the sender out, held my finger over the hole to stop the oil and my missus put some ptfe tape on the thread.
Tightened it back up, then whilst putting the connection back on the brass reducer f***ing broke, straight off.

Looks like i will have to get another oil pump body, and change it.

Can i just pack the pump with vaseline to reprime it?

If I let the oil drain from the oil pressure sender unit hole, will this drain the pump completely?
Or is it just draining down from the galleries???

Wish I hadnt touched it now.......................

IIRC from the Bible you can pack the pump with Vasaline to reprime it. It's detailed in the bible quite well. Sorry to hear about your troubles mate, hope to see you this weekend. Give me a shout.

got the reducer out luckily....

Will I need to repirme the pump??????????????????????

I hope not .

Looks like the reducer has been knocked somehow and splits its "neck".

Suppose it is best to fail now than at 90 on the motorway.......

The big question, will the pump need repriming, it has stopped draining oil out and not that much has come out...

OMG what a coincidence!

I had the same slight oil leak problem, so I took the car to the local garage today (I'm in Germany at the moment so doing it myself is not an option). He tried to remove the sender and the same brass reducing part broke!

Luckily he had a similar one in stores (which was far more robust than the standard one), so we were able to fit that. I've just got back from the garage and all seems ok.

Hopefully I can park on my driveway again without dripping oil on to it

On another note I had my wheels balanced whilst there, they are the Spider wheels supplied by the factory. The standard weights had been put in a position where they clashed with the front calipers (which were supplied with the wheels as a kit) so I had to remove these. When we tried to balance them it seems that one of the front tyres has a very bad flat spot (not from skidding but actually built in to the tyre), these are brand new wheels and tyres! We had to add alot of weight to balance it. I'm not too happy with TVR supplying me with such a wheel/tyre!

I have heard before that the spider wheels are crap to balance, I had a bad shake on mine , I got all four checked and the rear drivers side needed 60grams to get it balanced....
Ok this is probably the combination of tyre and wheel but there you go..

It was the tyre that was the problem though (Toyo T1S). Not sure what to do about it TBH, I should really send it back to the factory but I can't be bothered with the hassle.
