on the griff 500 is the rear plate stuck on or is it fitted by means of screws and brackets, if so anyone know of a kit or do the factory offer aftermarket upgrade as removal of the original damages the seal rendering useless

mine is held on with screws, the sealant is to stop water ingress, don't forget you'll need to get an opaque one for the backlighting

I have double sided tape on mine. If you ever replace the plate remember it is back lit and an off-the-shelf one will be too thick for the light to get through and probably illegal.

As for the tape, Scotch make it and get the thicker stuff; the plate is curved and this eases it a bit.

Mine is "blue peter" double sided stuff, it has been on and off many times just recently while sorting out an elctric boot entry along with independant boot lights.

Oh just a small sensor behind the number plate that when you move your key fob near it, the boot opens. Of course this only works if the the doors are unlocked, they do not have to be open. So armed with "shopping" i can disarm and open the boot without going inside the car, its not exactly ground breaking but, its the simple things. Of course if you dont want to take the number plate off, you could use the rear light cluster.

As of the Saturday just gone, my rear plate is now screwed on, I removed the old plate and sticky foam stuff, and drilled two holes in the edges of the plate and attached them to the car. It is much neater than the old tape was, at least it is neater on my car.

Re boot entry, is this something that you can buy off the shelf or home made??

Yes, tell more on this boot entry device sounds an excellent idea. I had thought of wiring a release switch in parallel closer to the door to avoid scrambling across the transmission when the roof's on, but a remote release sounds ideal.

You mean a NON-opaque one (i.e. translucent), surely?

Mine's just stuck on.

Most interested in your little improvement Mr Beer! My shopping trolley would benefit from that mod, too!!

Dave is of course also mr. mod-wise. I have been prototyping (or is that breaking Dave?) his rear boot remote entry sysytem but just need to do a final tweak (which I will do today - promise Dave!). I'd better let Dave tell you about it in his own good time. Rich...

Didnt put two and two together, Dave/Modwise... Just bought Radio Amplifier, Two speed fan controller, override switches, Light booster kit+bulbs, all working great.

How about that for a bit of free advertising, got to be worth a few pennies off boot entry!!! eh!
