Bonnet movement at speed

Is this normal ?

On the way home from the Superb Griff Growl at about 70 mph !! i noticed the bonnet flapping around so much so that i stopped on the hard shoulder thinking the bonnet catch was not down.

ok perhaps a little more than 70 but not three figures.

Has anyone else noticed this? or do i have a problem.

Yes they do that!

I stuck long felt pads on the top side of the runners in the engine bay. Problem solved.

Dave, do you mean where the plastic rollers run at the front of the car and at the top side of that channels is the place to pad up ?

The bonnet seemed to flap around the middle to top part also mate.

Yeah that's the place I mean, in the runner at the top. Not velcro though, sticky backed felt pad is what you want.

Middle to top part, hmmm. Mine only flapped at the front. Maybe your latch need lowering a few mm also then, very easy job.

Thanx guys, i guess if i stop the movement at the front of the bonnet it will reduce at the middle to top.

Where can i get said pad from Dave ?

Paul - good to meet you at the Growl. Still thinking about exhaust upgrade as per yours and i have already been to see Carl who has fitted a remote boot release fob - superb. Regarding your bonnet issue mine was fitted with pads by the dealer and it doesn't flap at all. If you want to see it (we can meet or I can email photos) just let me know. Steve (J524MHG press car)

Mine used to flap a bit, the rollers in the groves at the front had worn dimples in the fibreglass. I repaired this with two-part epoxy adhesive stuff (like Araldite) from B&Q. I also now have electrical tape wrapped around the rollers to keep them a snug fit.

Get yourself some old bicycle innertube for the rollers. Roll it back along itself to double the thickness if you need a snugger fit.
