Swirl Tank

B****r, just get one thing sorted. Now the Swirl Tank is leaking from the welded seam around the middle. I’m hopping that I can just get this welded back up. Has anybody come across this before ?

There was a thread on either here or the chim forum recently,about this very problem.From memory,opinion was divided as to repair.

Yes, there was another thread recently ..... and while I am typing this I may as well type what I did then, in that when mine went I had it welded by Paul at Austec - very little cost and still fine over a year later.

The tank has been welded and is back on, but...

Because of the residue inside the tank and in the joint the weld had a pin hole in, which I was warned could happen, If it did I was told to take it back and he’d have another go. Not expensive, the guy only wanted a few quid and I didn’t know him I just rang a company in the yellow pages.

Anyway since the tank joint was basically sound and the pin hole was accessible, I thought I’d have a go at using an adhesive first.

So far it has held through the bleeding process and been run up to temperature, I’ll road test it tomorrow.
