Heating

I wonder if anybody could help me.

Up until two weeks ago the heating in my 1994 Griffith was working fine but it now appears that when I try and turn the fans off they do not fully stop, as firstly I can hear a slight noise and secondly it gets bloody hot!

Has anybody else had a similar problem? If so, I would appreciate some advice as I anticipate it becoming unbearable as the weather gets better.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Do you have a fan control where you push the knob for on/off and then turn for speed - if so are you sure you turing off completely by pushing knob.

As for heat - the amount of cold/hot mix is regulated by a motor driven valve, again driven by the rotation of the knob. Not unknown for these motors to pack up and stick in one position.

All this is hidden down in the passenger footwell behind the glovebox somewhere. I'm sure if you get Steve Heaths bible it will explain how to get at it all.

So when you push the button/knob does it click? If not it sounds as though the plastic switch behind the alloy knob has come loose. You may find that if you remove the alloy knob you can tighten the ring nut that holds it into the panel? Rich...

have exactly the same thing, been told it is the heater "ecu" a tvr part which is £300. why oh why did they not just raid vauxhall or ford??????

anyway, for the summer i just take the fuse out (no 20 i think) and in the winter not a prob.

tried douglas valley for second hand part and they wanted £200.

My fan failed and i replaced the mos-fet, the bit that contols the fan speed, cost pennies. Email me for details.

On a similar subject, I have just replaced the variable resistor on my continuously turning heater valve and it hasn't made any difference. Hence I think I have a break in the wires or a fault in the heater ECU.

Does anyone know where the heater ECU is so that I can do some diagnosis?
