My griff is no more. Took my usual route home from work last night part of which is a dual carriageway with a centre tree / hedged area with thick foliage. As i rounded a blind right hand bend a couple in a Clio had decided to do a 'u' turn over the central area and i was confronted with the Clio in the centre of the road over the centre line. Managed to avoid the Clio by a gnats whisker but in the braking / steering frenzy the back end clipped the kerb and sent me off the road and into the trees etc. Got thumped on the back of the head somehow and was sparked out for a second, tore some muscles and stuff but basically OK.
Car is now a short wheelbase version but stood up really well all things considering.
Went to see the old girl today and felt pretty sad but at least i'm OK.
So that's it for the time being.

Did you get the details of the Clio - did they hang around to help/make sure you were OK?
If it is salvagable, maybe you can take the Ins money from the poorly Griff and give it a new lease of life? new backend / paint job, hood etc. Apart from the egg shape luimp on your bonce, maybe a blessing in disguise...time for that re-build.

The couple in the Clio stopped and turned out to be decent folks. It was just a really poor choice of place to cross the centre reserve. One of the annoying things is that there is a roundabout a couple of hundred yards up the road where they could have turned safely.
As for the car, the rear nearside wheel is ripped off the boot area is missing, and every other corner is cracked / smashed.
I think the roof panel somehow hit me on the back of the head as it flew off.
Feeling a bit rough now but basically OK.
The cops did some calculations and the guy would have had two seconds vision to make the u turn assuming a closing speed of 70 which is the legal limit for that road.
Anyway, he's down as vehicle 1 (cause of accident) so we'll se how it goes.
Will try to post some pics using Barretti's excellent instructions when i get them from a friend.

Steve, real sorry to hear about the car but glad your ok, had your fair share of body damage yourself from memory so real glad you ok.

Think the car will be written off as the rear nearside chassis and driveshaft etc took a bit of a hit but i'm waiting for the insurance guy to come out and make a decision.
Should have bought a yellow one and they might have seen me !
Her indoors has had i bit of a loss of sense of humour and wants me to get something a bit slower and more sensible but Chimera's just don't do it for me.
Anyway i'll keep you posted.

Oh, once you're over the accident you will get the piss taken relentlesly by no hearted gits like FlipFlopGriff.
Seriously hope its not a write off but it doesn't sound promising mate. Hope you're feeling better soon and if its any consolation to your Mrs I drive like an old lady since my accident.

Just reassure the other half that it was on a dual carriage way and regardless of what car you were in you would have probably been doing the same speed, which is probably true.
I hope the insurance don;t come down too hard on you. Are the couple in the Clio taking responsibility?

I'll give the 'T' shirt idea some thought for LM 2007.
The guys at work are calling me Del boy (apparently we both have three wheeled plastic cars ).
The insurance seems to be going OK but you never can tell. Spoke to them yesterday and they said that they would be classing the Clio driver as being at fault so fingers crossed.
Almost took the bike that day as well
Anyway, must be feeling better cos i've been looking at the classifieds. Some nice Griffs out there at the moment.

Boarder line write off, mostly bodywork damage so labour cost were the large bill, rad,lower wishbone,steering rack, and 2 new wheels, £13k
