rocker cover bolts

does anyone know the type of tool required for removing the rocker cover bolts?
I`m assuming that they are Torx bolts, if so anyone know what size socket is needed E10 / E12 ect.

I have a "special" tool for doing these. They're 12 pointed heads, so a deep 12 pointed 8mm socket works. (Mine have now been replaced with much more sensible cap screws)

They're bi-hex headed screws, I don't remember having any trouble taking them off with an ordinary single hex 1/4" drive socket.

On a Griff, the heater pipes get in the way - unless you have a deep socket you can't get at 2 of the bolts easily.

Make sure it's a 12 sided one, not the more common 6 sided type!

Various people can supply rather smart looking stainless socket cap screws to replace these.

Hi Clive,

Took my rocker covers off a while back to get them powder coated. Would have been a lot easier without the aircon pipes!! A bit fiddly but worth it.

I bought the socket and its the only thing I have ever used it for, if you have trouble finding one drop me a mail and I will lend you mine.

doesn't cost much at all, I think mine were about £15 the pair, but obviously this coats them all, to make them look as they were, you have to carefully file the tops so the alloy shows through (if you know what i mean)?
