I am thinking of buying another Griff now that my Ultima has gone 
having looked around on the for sale section here and the other usual places as ever there seems to be such a huge difference in advertised prices.
I looked at a 2000 W plate car today that is in excellent original condition with PAS leven bits and 18k on the clock otherwise totally standard. What would you chaps pay for this do you reckon?
I am torn between buying something really orginal such as the car I have just mentioned or going for a nicely modified car with Nitrons, bigger brakes etc missed out on Tiny's car which looked lovely!
Does anybody on here know of a similar car for sale at the moment or perhaps thinking of selling?

Sorry so the Ultima has Gone, really want one of them one day myself.
Hard to say but I hazard a guess you would be looking at early £20k's private and mid 20's at a dealer on just year/mileage and good condition. But I have seen 2001's at 22k and 99's at 21k so it really is hard. I guess its what you would be willing to pay too
One thing I will add is that if you buy standard you will(ok Most have) allways fettle and want to do little mods.. The suspension is one of the best to get better handling.
Never seen tinys car in the flesh but it certainly looked the dogs dangles and bet it went like it too, ashame you missed it.
Would recommend these two that may be able to help find what you want too.

Will be interesting to see how the insurance company value my car. Had no intention of selling before the accident and had spent about a thousand quid on it this year.
Any ideas price wise ?

On autotrader there is a gorgeous 17k mile 2000 year car for sale in a great colour (alloy pearl) (near Romford) for 18.5k
Getting back to t5grf's original question, I see there's a '96 51000-mile 500 in PH classifieds, full Fernhurst history, waxoyled chassis, etc. for £11,995. It seems several K below the going rate & I'm surprised someone hasn't snapped it up. If I had £12K burning a hole in my pocket I'd be sorely tempted to go & have a look. If nothing else it looks like it would be a cost-effective base for any future suspension upgrades, etc. And in case you're wondering, I have no connection with the seller, it just stood out as being good value.
BB yep would prob put Nitrons on whatever I buy and have them properly set up, I was never really happy with the handling of any of the previous Tiv's I have owned.
S7paul, thanks for pointing out the Fernhurst serviced car it does look good value, trouble is I just don't like the colour.

I could post a link to mine ('94 500 HC, 46K £12500 ... now "OIRO" ) but hey, it'd get silly if we all did the same 
And when talking about Griff Values, the "OIRO" only reflects the time of year. That car is superb. Mersey Tunnel in 2nd & 3rd gears should be on the NHS for depression

I paid more for my Griffith when I bought it because it was a nice colour (Grey/silver) and I could see the last owner had looked after it + spent over £10K in 2 years mostly on making it better .... aside from a FSH and putting anything that was even slightly wrong 'right' he had paid for Avo's, uprated Wilwood brakes + the usual Mark Adams / ACT / Leven stuff.
If I was willing to pay more given it was all stuff I would have done if I had bought a bog standard one then I am sure others are the same .... albeit to a realistic level of course.
I have added more again but wouldn't expect necessarily to get the money back when I do sell - hopefully though it would appeal more to a more 'informed' buyer.
I looked at a few dearer than mine in worse condition and many cheaper ..... in worse condition. I was told to try my best to get 'a good one' and after a good bit of looking I am happy I managed. One easily fixed leak and one faulty relay in almost 18 months I don't think is too bad
.....Better than a new VW EOS owner I saw who was going back to the garage for the second time in a month with engine / electrical problems ....

Hi - Griff owner here, with potential interest in Ultima (if i ever work out how to get money to come to me rather than away!)
Just how pleasant is it to drive - really? - I have had an 03 STi Scooby too and was not put off by it's ride - is the Ultima worse? - If the engine is muted on a cruise are the tyres still invasively noisy? - Does it skip on bumpy b road corners - can you stop the heat from penetrating cab properly - does getting out ever get any easier?
