Brake Upgrades

Anybody upgraded their brakes? if so, wheres the best place and what is approx cost.

Loads of people, look at teh griffith pages. Search on google.

Cheapest is Sierra Sapphire cosworth 4wd calipers, and 2wd discs, £300, need to use e bay though for the calipers.

Or granada cosworth calipers, Mine are on with no brackets and 283mm (redrilled for 114.3x5) discs..........

Yep, uprated disks with HiSpec 4 pots on front and HiSpec 2 pots on rear, with braided hoses.

Cost - a fair bit, can't remember exactly because I had Nitrons fitted at the same time, plus other bits.

I have Granada cosworth calipers, probably the same, I havent used and brackets either...

Also 283mm discs.....

The Cosworth calipers are 4 pots (4pistons), right ? I'm looking for a pair of those, no luck so far. I have found a pair on eBay but they seem to be a larger version of the ones i have now.

Can you confirm that they are indeed 4 pots and maybe post a photo for reference.

No, the granada cosworth calipers are two piston like the '500 brakes...

the 2wd sierra cosworth is the one with the four pot calipers. Although IIRC some people have tried to fit them with no success due to the tvr sierra uprights not being the same as the 2wd sierra cosworth uprights.

yep granada cosworth callipers 4x2mm spacer washers & 1st gen sierra cosworth discs 283mm works a treat.oh yes i got stung with thinking i could mount the sierra cos 4 pots on the hubs,you cant there out by a mile,sold on EBAY.

Yep, AP Racing 4 x pots with 315mm drilled discs at the front and 300mm discs at the rear, great improvement. Cost around £1500. Rich... www.greenbear.org.uk/The%20Brakes.htm

It was only the 2WD Cosworth that had the 4 pots, the rest were a large single pot slider. The 4 pots will clear, but won't fit the standard TVR upright. Allegedly a 2WD cosworth upright will fit and sort out the problem but I've never seen any pictures of the upright. I don't have any pics of the calipers to hand, but you ought to be able to make out the two pistons within the form of the caliper from its shape.

the 4 pots are over weight and not that good anyways the chances of finding a good pair are unlikely unless you find re/con.just stick with the big single potters much easier to find.

In the end I went with a Brembo option, there seem to be plenty on eBay if you know what you're looking for.

I got 285mm disks and HiSpec 4 pot calipers supplied for just over £600 with pads hoses and all fittings by TopCats. They also fitted it all, along with Nitrons etc and full excellent suspension setup.

Stopping is now amazing, and trackday overheating problems are cured. Pads are a bit squealy under light braking conditions, which can be a problem with these kind of brakes. I would consider Willwood calipers as an alternative.

i had levens fit a ebc disc upgrade (milled and grooved) and used the existing calipers on the front wheels of my 94 griff 500

approx cost £350 (would have been more if hoses needed replacing)

great stopping capabilities and with greenstuff pads there is hardly any brake dust discolouring as per normal pads.
