Decatting and DB's

OK, who has had their Griffith pre-cats removed ONLY.

If you have had this done (i.e no straight through pipe, just de-cat) do you know what decibel level you are now at?

I'm on the verge of having this done but don't want to be in a position of being too loud for trackdays.

Hi Jon, don't know if this is of any use to you, but my Chim has standard pipes, but the full de-cat and runs at about 102db at round 4000-4500rpm. When I bought it, it had already had the pre-cats removed, and wasn't excessively loud, sadly I dont have a figure.

Useful info Ian. 102Db isn't too bad. Its 105Db max at Oulton isn't it?

Yup...lifted from the MSV site

"Cars: Saloon & Sports Cars - 105dB(A) measured statically at 0.5metres and 45deg angle, at ¾ maximum rpm"

Say you shift at 5000 and you'll be fine...its a lazy V8 afterall

BTW is that your motor at Ian's?

Its having a new cam and bits.

I can't wait to get it back, not had a proper good drive for a month now.

I've got standard exhaust/manifolds, but with pre-cats out. The car is regularly noise tested for sprint events and is invariably embarrassingly quiet - 98db to 100db. So for most track days you'll be fine, but you'd be marginal on quiet days at the likes of Goodwood.
