Door wont open from inside!!!

92 J Griff, door handle on transmission tunnel doesnt open the door!!! However if i reach out I can press button outside and it opens............so before I take it to bits anyone tell me what the likely problem is and how to fix it?

Hmmm, cable come undone at the lock mechanism in the b post.
There is a little screw terminal that clamps the cable.
Very basic system so cant be much.

Pull the carpet back where the mechanism is , operate the transmission tunnel handle and see what isnt moving.

Any pointers needed give me a shout...
