Advice on the cost of parts and service

Hi pick up my new Griff on saturday morning, just had it inspected and there are a few small jobs that I will need to get sorted over the next few weeks. Unfortunately I have no ability to wield the spanners (except for breaking things) so will need to get the work done at a specialist, what do you chaps reckon would be a reasonable price for the parts and labour for the following :

Replace both lower wishbones
Replace engine mounts
New rear pads
Oil and filter service
New glovebox catch

Don't think parts will be expensive, so I would ring round the independants and get best labour price. Don't go to a dealer!! I live oop North so can't help there. Could check prices on www.tvrcarparts.com

Mounts are £20 each and rear pad set is £33. Can't find price of wishbones. The glove box lock is peanuts, as it's s***e. Semi synthetic oil is about £16 for 4 litres Fully synthetic £30. TVR Power use semi synthetic, so good enough for them.

Cheers ICB been quoted circa £750 by my local independent to do the work which I thought was a little steep.The bill broke down into the following :

Wishbones £118 each total £370 fitted
Engine mounts £190 fitted
Rear Pads £108 fitted
Glove box catch £25...
Oil and filter £100

Another indie quoted me £850 plus Vat

I rang a couple of different places for prices on the wishbones again quite a big variance in price between £90 and £135.

I hope the glove box isn't indicative of the rest of the prices. I bought a catch for one pound fifty something and fitted it in about 60 seconds!

Proper 6K service should be about £300 at an indie. During this service, they're supposed to strip the rear brakes - replacement of pads would therefore be parts only.
Engine mounts 2hours max + parts.
Glove box catch is £3.29 from B&Q, 2 mins to fit.
I paid £58 for wishbone form Peninsula but that was 3 years ago. Prices seem to have risen considerably since then! Once that's replaced you'll need a 4 wheel align - again part of the 6k service.

You might get an 'all in' quote of about £500 then, but realistically I think £600-£750 is not unreasonable and nearer the mark.

You could give Ian at Sportmotive a call: 01782 333008. He'll collect, and deliver (unless you want to drive to Stoke on Trent). Good prices, great service (especially if you tell him I sent you )

It doesn't take much to do the calculations...

6.5 litres of Mobil/Silkoline/Motul/Valvoline/Extra Virgin Green pressed or whatever is the current fave - £60
Oil filter - £10
Sump plug washer - 40p
Waste oil disposal - 40p
30 minutes labour at £50/hour £25

I think that comes to around £100...

Not sure where I got it from but I had a figure of about £70 in my head for a lower wishbone.
