Griffith vs M5

I've had my Griff for about 2 months now, covered 4000 miles, and am loving every minute (except for getting a wee bit stressed when it's left parked somewhere!). Anyway, I've been surfing and just found this thread on an M5 forum and thought you might me interested - it's about a couple of drag races between these two cars.

Trying to get a Griff off the line nicely in the wet is not an easy task - I certainly wouldn't want a 'mate' trying it in my car!

Totally, totally agree. I've had other cars with 4wd, abs, esp, pas, etc, found them tedious/soulless/sterile/etc and then one day I drove a 3000M and was totally blown away. Yes it's a bit noisy, unrefined and the handbrake is where the gearstick should be, maybe not the quickest thing in the world, but it was a world more fun to be in that the now oh so bland feeling scoob I'd just stepped out of. So I decided I needed a Griff (actually the thought process went something like Tuscan->Chim400->MarcosX->Chim450->Griff500). It's an experience every time I drive the Griff. No matter what sort of journey. I think that thread just brought it all home to me. I actually want to struggle and fight with the beast on a wet and windy corner in the middle of the night. I don't want to be cosseted and wrapped up in cotton wool. I've got Blair's nanny state looking after that one for me! So let the M5/911/etc, with all their traction control, active dampers, blahblahtronic systems, leave me standing while I'm wheelspinning in third. I am now learning, I am smiling and I will be back!

had an M3 today at lunch time. he tried his very best but was not able to follow.

but calm down you plastic car drivers. the main difference between driving a tvr or a bmw (porsche, mercedes, ferrari or whatever else in the moment) is the simple thing that divides "wanna be sportscar-drivers" from those who really drive one.

just try to imagine your "so called sports-cars" without any of those funny electrical improvements...
