Toyo R888 front sizes experiences please

Just about to order a full set of 888's for my spare set of wheels for track use

Have two trains of thought at the moment

I am set on my rears, 225/50/16's to keep near as the same diameter as my 245/45/16 bridgestones 631mm vs 627mm respectively

It's the front's I am not convinced on

Can't decide between

225/50/15's 609mm

or

215/50/15's 596mm

Thinking is the 5mm drop in ride height at the front using 215, will assist in reducing understeer as well as allowing a narrower tyre to minimise roll on the 7" rim

or

roll on rim is minimal with 225 and the extra tyre width will assist in reducing understeer

Anyone helping the thought process along the way wil be greatly received

I went one down still, at 205/50 15... for exactly those reasons, but still have SO2s on the rear. At the time I replaced the fronts, I was intending to change the rears for R888s shortly after but the combination works so well, I may just stick with the road rears as a change is due. Perhaps T1R or S Toyos. I aslo now run pretty aggressive toe-out at +4mm across the front and the resulting turn-in and sensitivity might not suit every one but I like it and it's given no 'moments' over the summer. Wear has not been the issue predicted either, although they certainly don't like standing water.

The walls are stiff on the 888's & that set up feels great to me (although that doesn't say much !!!!)

Looks like i wont be down your way (see e-mail)so it will have to be if we meet up somewhere

Although I might need a look at your roof before i get the saw out

Not tracked but some hard driving On private roads

The Toyo site has a more accurate size chart and the technical guy is very helpful on the phone

As I have a larger brakes upgrade I have used 16"s all round (well they'd hardly be square) with 225/45ZR16s on the front and 225/50ZR16s on the rear.
Work really well on road and track.

PS If you use 205/50ZR 15s up front you'll save a fair bit of money - only 72 pounds inc VAT each.
