Dumb Battery/Alarm Question

Need to get a new battery tomorrow. My dumb question is - when I disconnect the old battery will the alarm siren sound on its internal battery, and if so, can I silence it on the plipper? Thanks in advance.

PS '97 Griff 500 with Meta alarm.

i've heard of all sorts of problems from people on PH disconnecting their batteies.But having done it several times,and on four different cars,all i can say that happens is nowt!When you re-connect,the alarm goes off and you cancel it with the plipper.(these have all been with the Meta system by the way)

On mine it goes off (or arms) when the power is re connected. I think what happens is if you don’t get a clean disconnect, ie when removing the terminal it breaks, makes and then breaks again which is very easy to do, the alarm may be triggered. When swapping batteries I have got into the habit of connecting an external supply (trickle charger via the lighter socket does the job) so the alarm never sees a loss of power.

Thanks for the advice - fitted the battery this morning, no problems (apart from usual cursing of the TVR design team).
