Boot solinoid

My boot solinoid no longer makes the clicking noise when I press the button. I suspect the solinoid itself has gone, and I intend to check the electrical feed to it with a multimeter to confirm (when I can steal someone's multimeter).

I have seen the good threads on how to change the solinoid, the part number and where to source one from.

Before I start removing and then reglueing carpet in the boot, is there a fuse for the solinoid anywhere? I can't see one mentioned in the Bible or the handbook, but I'd like to check everything obvious before I start ripping carpet out the boot.

Hi Pete, theres a connector block normally in the passenger door sill, behind the seat, little flap that can be opened and you can peer in. This connector can be known to corrode, worth looking at. But believe it may control other things too so maybe would have expected other things mis behaving.

Hi , I believe the fuse is the one for the instruments as this is the one that blew when my boot solenoid burnt out . Very cheap and easy job sounds like you`ve got all the info you need , good luck , bit of a swine if your boot is locked shut as mine was .

Ahh! If the solinoid is on the same fuse as the dashboard instruments, in may explain why I noticed that everything had stopped working after I filled up with fuel the last time. I replaced the 10Amp fuse and the dashboard came back to life, but no boot solinoid. Thankfully, mine is stuck open, rather than closed.

The way forward seems clear now - I have a weekend project!
