Rear Diff - oil

How easy is it to check the oil level in the diff ?

How do you do it and how do you top it up if low.

Any pointers will be welcome.

Think you will find that it is simply a case of removing the filler bung and putting a finger in the hole. If the oil is level with the hole then all is well. Another method, (I think used by the previous owner of my Griff) is “If it has stopped dripping it must be empty”. The first method is possibly the better of the two

To top it up you can use a bottle with a bit of plastic tube sealed into the top. A washing up liquid bottle is ideal. Clean it out, put the oil in and then seal around the length of ideally clear pipe. Post the pipe in the hole and squeeze the bottle.

I understand that it is important to use exactly the correct grade of oil or the LSD won’t work. 80/140 with anti shock is what I was told
