Guys,

Just wondering if you could offer me some piece of mind.

Managed to throw my TVR Griffith into a ditch today, luckily no one was hurt.

The damage amounts to one of the stainless steel exhaust pipes being bend and slightly crushed, damage to the body work area above the said exhaust pipework and also damage to the front bumper.

What I'd like to know is whether or not repairs to a fibre glass car are easily done? Furthermore is it possible to take the car to an exhaust specialist for them to heat up the exhaust and get it back into shape or whether a whole new back section will be needed?

Many thanks,

Mark

Sorry to hear that - what a shame, on today of all days. Most folk will be headed to London so you may not get too many replies until later. But the answers are, yes, repairs to fibre glass are fairly straightforward (if you know what you're doing ) but are best done by a specialist - especially the paintwork. Regarding the crushed pipe I suspect that it will be a question of how extensive the damage is - probably cutting out the crushed section and replacing might be an option. Others will be along soon to offer their advice. Glad you're ok and the car can be fixed.

Thanks for the reply. Luckily I'm good mates with a guy who owns a body shpo, not been able to get in touch with him as of yet but at least my mind is put at rest.

Many thanks once again,

Mark

Depending on how bad the damge is you either cut out the damaged portion and glass in a repair section, (try TET mouldings for these) or if its not too bad more glassfibre matting can be used to repair the panel then once its filled and painted you'd never know.

One word of advice is use a bodyshop that has expierence of dealing with fibreglass as it behaves differently to metal and needs different painting techniques to get a good lasting finish
