Griff for sale............

I was keeping my eye on a Griff that was for sale on here.
It was up for sale for £10,500 and was then sold a little later, now it says £12,500 ??
I know this as I was looking at the turquoise one thats up for £10,995 which was a similar price in a similar area (i.e.up north) so thought I might try and see both at the same time.
Why has the priced now increased after it has been sold?? Did somebody come along and actually pay more as it was so good ?? Or two people get into a haggling match ??!! If this is to give an unrealistic view of the prices that Griffs are selling for and trying to keep prices then I personally think thats out of order. Apologies if I have made a mistake but I don't think I have. My budget is about 10K'ish so the two cars mentioned were around this price and in a similar area of the country.
Making out prices are higher than they actually are might help out current owners but what about potential owners who wish to join the TVR fold ?? You have to sell your cars to move on or move up to something else (maybe another TVR) so if other people have done the same, what have you gained ??
As I've said, apologies if i'm wrong and I'll retract this if I am and i'll apologise (cos I'm that sort of chap !!), but I don't think I am and it might seem as though I'm making a lot of fuss over nothing to a lot of you.

I had a bit of a price comedy as well regarding the 4.3BV still for sale in the cassified.
Car was firstly advertised last...august(!!) and I did not check it seriously. begining of octobre, it was readvertied "last chance..." at 12900. at the prices it sounded very tempting and I contatced the seller. being abroad I could not immediatly go to see it, and the ads was removed.
In november I contacted again the seller to know if the car was still available as I had possibility to go to UK to check, and we fixed apointment to see it.
Just the day before the apointment, he puted again a new ads...at the "summer" price. well I must say I considered that like not very correct, as me I was planning to discuss obviously at the last advertised price, and...I was traveling to Chester to see it, so was really interested at that price.
The car is still for sale...(it is 5 months now)

and I got it well under the advertised price, and so far it seem a good car, for peace of mind I sent Rob Ingleby to check it, for him it sounded good too, so I took it.

in the cheap ones, it seems Chris neil has still the 96 500 at 11.000, the car needs work (well...a lot of work) but when i was there it sounded they would let it go for less, which could become interesting for somebody who can work in it himself.

It looks like the current owner has spent quite a lot of money on the car since he bought it - I would assume this is reflected in the selling price.
I see its sold now - did you buy it or did someone beat you to it?
Either way, its one hell of a car for the money, its probably best to ask the seller his reasons rather than posting on an open forum, could save any confusion

The Ruby 500 was mine, when it was for sale the price was there for everyone to see, it was priced to sell and I needed it gone to make way for my new toy. The car is now sold, the price it sold for is private between me and the buyer. I marked the ad as sold but could not see how to remove the ad from public view( I think it stays on PHs for 60 days which will be well into the new year) I increased the price as I do not want to influence the selling price of other Griffs after christmas when the market will be more active.
All I can say is if you wanted a bargain 500, then sorry but if you snooze you loose.
The market price for Griffs should not decrease because one seller requires a quick sale at the wrong time of year.
If the opinion on this forum is that I should put the price back at what I sold it for ..then I will.

Badred, thanks for your reply, appreciate you didn't have to comment. Obviously prices change throughout the seasons and also change depending on peoples circumstances for selling, I just think that any price that a vehicle gets advertised for is a valid price, shows people what could be had. I agree that the sale price is private matter and wasn't trying to find out what you got for it. As you say the ad will disappear soon so no harm done.
Glad you sold the car for a good reason, to buy another TVR !!

Well, mine was a purely unbiased viewpoint in direct answer to your question - what do people think? I was trying to be helpful.
However, the fact that I am a former TVRCC member and Griff 500 owner, currently actively looking to replace the 911 for another Griff 500, know an absolute shed load of TVR owners and spent this lunchtime at the North Yorks TVRCC pub meet obviously invalidates my well intentioned suggestion.
Look... you want to advertise your car for one price and then pretend it sold for a higher one fair enough ... I'll tell all the other people looking for a Griff that there is minority of owners out there who bend the facts.

Not invalid Al just the opion of a wannabe, rather than a Griff owner.
Anyway, If my actions or postings have caused any problems or offence I apologise. I have returned the ad to the the asking price. Good luck with you search for a good Griff, but for christ sake get a new hat
