Griff fan belt spec

Does anyone know the spec for a 1994 5l Griff fan belt. I want to keep a spare as when the nice man from the AA replaced the last one (after the alternator pulley shattered) he was surprised to find he had one long enough, and he claimed the one he did have was quite old.

Do people favour the toothed ones ?

There's writing on the belt from wich you can conclude the lenght and type of the belt. Someone will come along who drives a 5l who can tell you the exact type.

yep thanks - point is my belt the aa man put on i don't think is the right one - only just long enough - i suspect the proper one is different and maybe toothed.

They are poly V belts. Not toothed and you'll need to measure or get the data off the belt as there is a lot of variation out there!

I thought he was talking about the single-V cogged belt, not the poly-V serpentine belt.

I used to use the cogged belts on my old Fords. They tended not to squeal as much when worn and didn't need tightening up as much for them to grip. But, as there's less surface area to grip the pulleys they tend to wear out a little quicker.

Arhhh yes I see where you are coming from. It's a cusp preserp 500 not a serp 500. My mistake.
