Finally got the engine running toady after starting some cosmetic work back in October, which led to finding out that I needed new camshaft and rockers, along with countless other bits and bobs, all this after I had just bought carbon fibre trumpets, induction kit and enlarged phlenum, and sent the manifolds minus the precats off to be cam coated, so the wallet has taken a severe hammering, but now its done its well worth it.
trouble is I was going to tell my mrs that the carbon trumpets were her christmas present, but for fear off a verbal assult and a slow painful death I`d better rush out and find something more appropriate for her tommorrow!

Many thanks to those who have given invaluable advice along the way, in particular Quinny, and GreenV8S, and ricardo for pointing out what should have been obvious to me!

Looks bloody stunning!
If you want to take it further, the wiper motor could do with a bit of paint. Also the engine bay part of the body can be sprayed in satin black out of a can and look alot better very easily.
But it looks bloody great as is. Top work, roll on the sunshine (or at least dryish roads!)

quinny; sounds great especially without the precats, seems quicker to pick up low down, but may be a while before the roads are dry enough to test this out, seems very promising though.
simon, made the heat shields myself at work, would you like some?
polished stainless steel held on by a 5" stainless jubilee clip, with spacers attatched giving 1/2" clearance between the shield and the exhaust.takes 5 minutes to fit both, a bit longer to make though

Clive having had a second look at your engine bay i have got to say what an absolutely fantastic job you have done in fact i can not remember seeing any better of late 
Have you considered taking this Skill of yours up for a living?
All i can say is that you have raised the bar to an almost unachievable lever for us normal guys with, like me, just basic engineering qualifications and skills.
