97 Griff 500 has been resting in its garage for several months with a battery conditioner connected. Yesterday I went to start the car which was working perfectly when put away. I can lock/unlock the car using the key remote.

Turning the ignition key switches on the warning lights but does not crank the engine or dim the headlights. The fuel pump does not energise when I depress the key button or insert the other thing.

I can hear noise from near the relays when I initially turn the key. I have replaced the 30amp Bosch relays, and checked the 1-13 fuses. I have pressed the glove box fuel switch.

Can anyone help or guide me where to look next? Thanks in advance!!

Hi Goodgriff500.

This thread may help, clicky here greenv8s's comment may be of help. sounds like you arent getting anything to the fuelpump. that would say whether its the pump or not.( alarm/immobiliser)

Maybe the Battery hasnt enough in it. I have had my battery go flat on two occasions withe the conditioner on..I use the cigar lighter adapter and can only think it wasnt pushed in all the way.

Hope that is of some help

Well I'd certainly agree, it's worth checking the simple things first. Get out your battery charger and stick it on charge for a good 48 hours...

Many thanks for that. The internal fan, main lights, horn and other electricals work fine. Would the starter motor chatter or the main lights dim if the battery power was low? There is no sound or movement from anything other than a slight sound of a servo or relay switching on in the passenger footwell when the the ignition is first turned on? Nothing else happens when the key is turned further.

I shall replace/charge/boost the battery in the morning. What does a fully charged battery switch on - or put the other way - what is my battery not doing or switching on? Sorry to ask you all this but I am trying to cover all eventualities for a day in the garage/workshop in case the battery is OK?

Many thanks for your quick replies. I am grateful to the forum of TVR people sharing experiences.

That's almost certainly the stepper motor on the plenum chamber moving into position.

Hi,I know it sounds a bit of a pain but if you take the battery to a specialist they
have battery digital testers to check integrity of unit.Once the battery is past its best it won't hold any charge. Its always worth eliminating the battery first especially this time of year.

Sounds more like your alarm to me. This will disable the fuel pump & starter (& ecu in some cases IIRC). I would try a complete cold reboot (disconnect battery for a few minutes & reset alarm).
