Poor start after fueling problem...

I had this with both the old and new versions of my Griff...
I dont have a problem starting per se however after filling up the car starts but then stalls if I dont ride the accelerator. If it stalls then its a sod to restart and in either case it runs like a bag of nails for approx 1/4 of a mile before settling down.
As I say i had this with the old engine so I guess its a fuelling problem. The only thing I can think of is when the filler cap is released the vacuum is released and maybe the fuel drains back?
Any suggestions? (Happy New Year to all btw...)

I'd suggest checking your Carbon Cannister is venting the tank. The petrol vent pipe runs all the way down the chassis and may be blocked / trapped, or the cannister itself is full (indicating you are not purgeing correctly). search carbon cannister or evaporative emmissions control will lead to quite a lot of info. PITA to get to but the source of many smelly front wings.

That's interesting, do you mean it causes a smell of fuel or something else? My Griff smells, it's a bit like stale water but I've never noticed any water entering the cockpit despite heavy rain.

Nah suspect carbon can if you can sniff petrol fumes thru the grill. Sounds more like stagnant water in your case. Have a good sniff round the front of the car.
Dont know for sure, but it seems there should be drain holes for the front undertray, which are not always working... Whether they never got made (at factory) / got silted up / painted over is open to interpretation. The inside of the tray is not designed to be a bath tub (personally suspect a lot of the front earth problems could be due to this).

Hi Graham,how did you go on with your fueling problem ? .Just seen your thread from a few days ago. Might be worth checking the connections on the purge valve if the fault has always been there.I think wire colours are slate/yellow,white/purple.Check for loose or coroded terminals on the valve.Regards.Dave J.
Cheers boys - its in hand. Interestingly it didnt blooming happen when I filled up the other day. Also for the first time ever I didnt fill the tank brim full - rather I stopped at the first click...shouldnt really have any bearing but you never know.
Anyway more interestingly I got stopped by plod
on Friday as my Tiv was "too loud"...apparently it was "vibrating our car when we were behind you sir" 
. Guy was really nice and I couldnt resist a "good though isnt it?" to which he smiled. He said it was loud even allowing for the fact it was a TVR 
I started a thread on the Plod and the Law section on here and the outcome appears to be that its fine to have a new loud engine (as long as one doesnt excessively rev and get an ASBO), fine to fit an aftermarket silencer (even if its louder) and but not so fine to take out the baffles and fit a straight through pipe
Soo..cherry bomb time methinks!! PS Still reckon it might be a tad louder than yours come Growl time Pasc
