best suspension hardware for pre-cat road only Griff
Discussion
I would like to take an unofficial poll on choices for suspension set up, with road use only in mind.
I have in mind Protech coil-overs - interested to see if most prefer this over gaz or others and what sort of spring rates for reasonable road comfort
Also whether or not rear ARB should be fitted and what bush upgrades and where

I had no idea this was so political or so full of 'wise guys'...
I was simply taking an updated concensus before taking a Spring plunge, - is that ok?
Actual feed back would be preferred to 'camp supporters with a political axe'
Any out there?!

I have no axe to grind with anyone. Nor am in bed with any of the Guru's!!!
I was lucky enough to win a suspension set at a charity auction that i am very happy with
this has now been superseded by that supplier... I could just see the way this thread was going to go, and think a little use of the search facility would have given you many recent views/opinions on the different options!! Sorry if my little joke was taken in the wrong way

Ok then, spring rates.
Gaz=400/325 or 375/300 for comfort
Protech and Avo=375/300 or 350/275 for comfort
Nitron&Ohlins=325/250 and turn them down for comfort

Good bit of research

Alternatively pick a range of shocks and speak to the vendor.
That must be the best advice ever

And just to qualify my research, I have set up cars on all the shocks mentioned (including Protech)
Anything for a few quid

1. Pre cat road Griff usually had no rear anti roll bar. So worth taking a look underneath as the decision may be made for you. Those that have fitted the ARB have reported a big improvement. There are some owners who go the other way though. Personally, I prefer having the rear arb.
2. You might want to fit rose jointed drop links (www.tvrextras.co.uk) as these will improve the handling dramatically and will also complement any further suspension upgrades you might do. They provide less roll, better turn in, and make the car a less twitchy, especially on bumpy roads. They also allow a slightly softer setting for shocks which give a better ride without compromising the handling. In terms of bang per buck about the best upgrade... but I am biased
3. Bush replacement is a good idea especially if the car is still on its originals! They don't last forever!
4. Don't forget checking the suspension geometry.
