Rubber vs Nylon...

Me again... Another one I'm sure must have been discussed at length (Yes, I know, ignorant sod who doesn't know how to use the search facility)...

Suspension bushes - as part of the body-off job, I'm planning to re-bush the entire suspension. On one hand, I've heard that nylon bushes transform the handling but, on the other, make for a rather hard ride. I'll be using the Griff mainly on the road, with the occasional track day, so I don't really want a tooth-jarring ride. Anyone who knows the roads around South Yorkshire will know why! I plan to change the shocks and springs at the same time - probably Pro-tech, or possibly Nitrons (views welcome).

There will be lots of diverse opinions on this, some will undoubtedly advise a mixture of metalastic and polyurethane in different places. It may be much easier to go on Geography, luckily you have 2 excellent indies within reach.

Decide who you like best out of Richard RTRacing (back of Sheffield dole office) & Joo Trackcar (bottom of Dronny bypass to Chesterfield) they will advise & supply a combination to suit you. There are some variations in bushes fitted - its much better to be able to nip down & get them changed for the right ones. They are both extremely helpful people as well as being as knowledgeable as any others in TVR circles IMHO.

I got mine done at the same time as fitting protechs. Im not sure which worked best to transform the handling but it was much much better.

In terms of bushes the best way I looked at it was - replace the rubber with poly and never worry again

Got poly bushes done last year along with new shocks, transformed the handling IMHO and I can now do power slides (not very well though!).
