Anyone selling their Griff?

Well, it looks like the wedge is sold

I am now after a Griff for under £10k

Is this too little to spend? Will this kind of money just buy me a dog?

Ideally after a 4.3 or 5 litre.

Is anyone selling one but not got it on classifieds yet?

There was a green 4 litre on classifieds a little while ago which had a LOT of work done recently, but it has since dissapeared off the classifieds. Anyone know if its still for sale?

If you're referring to the Cooper green 430 with £6,000 spent on it over the last eighteen months then:

At that price you are proabably looking at a 4.0l, and probbaly not the best ones either
Or someone who REALLY need to sell ASAP, or a MEGA miler..

Much more choice from 11-13k.

I think prices will be static for a few months, so proabably worth saving up a few k more, and snapping one up in may.

I got my 93 (L) 500 with 31.5K on the clock for £10.5K. Had Rod Ingleby inspection to confirm that nothing was going to fall of it. So far nothing has!

Took me 4 months of scavaging though, I assume that it's a bargain then?

I don't think so, 93-94 cars in the 10'sK are around the mark i think. me I got a 1997 39.000miles car for 12.300 also ingelby inspected. not all cheap cars are good, but i think the good ones only sells if they are cheap too (the car I bought had been advertised at 15.500 last summer than 14.500, than 13.500...than I came!) it just need to take the time to find a good one.
I think on the forum here we are are at least 5-6 who bought one very recently , it is a number high enough to give an idea of the real prices, and the real prices are obviously lower than what people think.

Mine's for sale in the classifieds, you wont find a better condition pre-cat for the money (I should know I looked at most of them when I was searching) cant believe how many timewasters there are these days, happy to talk to you about tvr's generally but obviously not in the market to buy, check my profile for pic or last page on griff classifieds, the car is in fantastic condition.

Then again a car that holds on to 45% of it's list price at 14 years old is a pretty good bet.

If you buy well and look after it. I can't really see any depreciation in the future.

That stat. must be comforting for those who`ve owned for 14 years but if dmax`s `97/38k example at £12,300 is consistent, the car I have to sell that cost me north of 20k three & half years ago (very good car, dealer price) will have depreciated the best part of 2.5k a year - that`s main stream territory, surely? I don`t think I was being naive expecting it to hold up better. Oh well, next lucky blighter won`t have to worry about it....

I`m just sore at having to sell, full stop. I just hoped to be financially compensated for the loss of a loved one....

I have invoice from previous owner, he had bought the car 18500 2 and a half year before and under his ownership I have for about 2500 pound of services invoices.
So I think depreciation has been particularly bad the last 2 years, and maybe even particularly this year.

Still not sure it is the bottom, and it is particularly hard for newer cars, as now most people like me buy grif a bit in alassic car mind, which means it makes not much difference if the car is 7 or 12 years old. It is maybe not far form the bottom for the oldest car, but all griff no matter how recent they are will reach about the same value with years going, now it is the turn of the 96-97 cars to arrive around the 12.000, but newer cars will follow till that level too.

griff prices were prety stable, until NS came along ( 2 years ago)

Since then the tvr disaster has affected all used tvr's including griffs,

Totally market panic, ie tvr goes can't get parts stuff, plus if you were a buyer you would use this to push down the price.

Reality is all TVR stopped maing Griffs 5-6 years ago anyway, anything you want/need parts wise you can get from indy's

So as soon as TVR disappears completely, or gets sold to a more stable/sane owner.

Then prices should rebound a bit...

A good time to buy... BUt a lot of people are just hanging on to theirs.

Mine isn't worth anything IE I'm not selling it.
Would be nice to have a spare... ie definetly a buyers market for any TVR at the moment

Uncanny, sounds like yours and mine were separated at birth!

I`ve had some interested viewers, even at my earlier `very optomistic` asking price, all of whom were new to TVR - but alas they all chose mine as the first too see.... I`m guessing their research showed it to be a buyers market too. There are fewer Griffs in the PH classifieds at the mo but I`m sure it`s because everyone else knows how rotten the market is.

I can cope with, and would welcome, value free-fall: if it becomes truly rediculous the argument for it`s sale becomes redundant. Might even justify buying one for the other foot! However, I don`t think I can wait for the return of public confidence in TVR to firm prices - I fear oil reserves will be exhausted by then....

Anyway, as we`ve established, it`s a buyers market, so come on, where are the daft offers?

Dafter the better - I need to convince household management selling is not now a viable idea.....

Gary, three and a half years at £2,500 would make about £8,500 - take that off the approx £20k that you paid would put your car at around £11,500. You have it advertised at £15k.

If you have dropped it significantly from that then please email me as I have a good mate that would love that spec, he just doesn't have a £15k budget.

Nice try burriana, I don`t blame you, but as you can imagine flogging a Griff is a very hard thing to come to terms with - I`m sure I could sell it tomorrow if the price was low enough but tunnel season starts this weekend and I`m sure I caught a glimpse of the sun through the slanting rain last week.....unless...Wedge350, how high is the roof spoiler on your Saxo?

At the moment it does not have a shopping trolley spoiler, however if this is a deal clincher i will crash it into Halfrauds at the weekend and see what sticks....
