Help please: need a dash template

I intend to fabricate a new dash and heater panel with a carbon fibre fascia and ally sheet backing. I'd like to have the thing ready so that I can make the swap over a future spare weekend. Would any of you fabulous folk have one I could borrow? It'd be particularly handy if any of you attending the Bristol RR shootout had one available. Maybe someone knows where one could be sourced. Either way I'd be grateful.

I'm not using the Griff at the moment, so you could borrow the dash if it were not going to be long (and you were careful with it ) However, because I'm not using the Griff, I'm not going to Bristol... Catch 22.

I do have an accurate cardboard template that could be posted if that's any use.

BTW I could do with a stainless dash shape cut myself as I want to re-arrange the instruments somewhat so I can fit my ECU monitor and stuff into the dash. The snag is that I haven't designed what I want yet...

Dave, I used a piece of plastic when I redesigned my dash, its easy to work with and strong enpough to actually use. It allowed me to try the layout and make sure all the hole cutters were the right size (?) before the hard metalwork (which was very hard in steel). I bet you posh Southerners get it cnc'd tho :-/ I found the instrument layout reasonably easy ~ but spent ages getting all the silly LEDS where they looked right (adding fans...) then I discovered tri leds which made it neater.

Ta for the offer Dave. If nothing comes up for the 28th then I may take you up on that; I'll get back to you. Do you have the ss sheet you need for your intended dash? What gauge are you intending to use?

Not acquired the material yet. The gauge will be as close to the original as I can get because I'll be veneering it again.

I'm not a "posh Southerner", I just happen to live on the south coast! But yes, it was going to be CNC'd... When you know the people, it seems silly not to.

I'm not sure I have accounted for all the controls and stuff I need yet. This makes the design work tricky. At least it's in Turbocad so it can be changed easily.

I'm going to the RR, Thornbury and have a 'carbon fibre effect' dash (that I'm not happy with) if you'd like a butchers. I've also started a thread about replacing it. Maybe we can swap ideas over a glass of the frothy stuff at the RR session?

Hmmm, so you have access to the tooling/machining and I may have access to the materials. If your man is gonna be setting up for the cutting, then maybe one in addition could go his way? Wotcha reckon?

Maybe we can do a deal here.

Oh, and why in stainless if you'll be veneering?

Stainless - stiffer than mild for no extra weight (so I can make it a little thinner), and it doesn't rust in the damp - TVRs are known to leak on occasion. That and I have a good supplier lined up who may just have TVR dash sized offcuts...

My man doesn't have a TVR. He just likes playing with the toys in his workshop. I'm sure something can be worked out though. It may take some time however because I'm nowhere near ready for this bit of car to get done.
