Recent RR showed my Griff c. 30% down on power. Also have relatively poor fuel consumption (could be heavy right foot.. ). Further RR tests put it down to possibly the ECU not reading the lambda's correctly ie could be running too lean/rich. The lambdas are new(ish) and both read correctly on diagnostic eqpt. Before my ECU is sent away for 'fault finding' (I'm struggling to be without the car for a few days at the mo') are there any other ideas/thoughts please?
Thanks in advance, Paul.
PS Car feels and sounds fine with and doesn't seem down on power (only noticeable at top end ie over 4k in top - which I don't do....??)

may be worth checking out the fuel pressure regulator & the fuel rail pressure 1st before panicking.

Surely you'd notice 30% loss if it were true. You'd be left with around 180-190hp on a 'normal' 'average' 500

Is the 30% taken from the magical TVR figures quoted...if so, give up looking...cause it's not actually gone anywhere

I wish.... 198 bhp at the fly - although not noticeable even during 'spirited' driving??

Hi Paul,

Was it definitely down on power or were you one of those that Interpro pulled before full power because of pinking/misfires? What was your max speed/revs at the time?

Paul,

don't send it away for 'fault finding' just yet. I've got a spare 500 ecu which, although it'd need another hour on the rollers (or some fun with a straight piece of road and a stopwatch), ought to provide a speedier diagnosis.

Other thoughts:
blocked cat(s)?
duff air flow meter?
duff temperature sender?
throttle pot out of adjustment?
blocked injectors?

Have you done a diagnostics test on the ecu?

Ben.

Well - only with your permission (my chip though)!
Or we could try my chip in his ecu or...

If all above suggetions check out what about worn camshaft? relatively common reason for gradual drop of in power without noticing.

Thanks for the replies guys.
There is no pinking or misfiring. The RR day showed Max speed @ 129 mph so I assume this was at 5-6k?.
The AFM is new(ish) and all other aspects were diagnosed OK just prior to the session.
I am wary of sending off ECU to another 3rd party and would welcome the opportunity of testing a spare (Ben?? - really nice offer if you were serious...).
It's also tempting to get a 2nd opinion (maybe another RR session (Richard @ Dulford's perhaps)) due to the fact that the power seems to be all there, as far as I can tell....
Paul.
