right hopefully gonna put these on at the weekend.
Johno has helped me very much with some settings and I am sure I will have to adjust a bit to find
whats good for me.

So was just wondering what all you others with Nitrons have yours set on?

Hi Simon

I started off at the midway point (about 11/12 clicks from hard) and experimented from there. Now I run a few clicks (3-4) softer from midway for normal B-Class road use and (4-6) harder from midway for track. I'll be trying even harder settings this summer for track.

.......Height.........clicks
.to chassis rails...from soft
Front...120mm...........7
Rear....165mm...........3

But I have Little Chim, Big springs & Joo Nitrons. However we are staunch advocates of the bums up stance!
Nitrons can use 10" springs on the rear ~ excellent IMHO.

As said you should always set from hard, If you count from soft the settings can differ by up to two or three clicks giving some very odd handling.

Personal preference, but for what it’s worth :-

Dry track 8 from hard all round
Damp track 9 from Hard
Cruising to the Pub Sunday lunchtime 11 from hard.
Delivering Trifle to mother in law’s, still mostly in bowl on arrival, 12 from hard

Cant you get a pry bar in? push thread end with pry bar, then lever head out.. Wiggle the old damper, warm it up.... Its times like this you appreciate liberal copper slipping by the last technician

Yes set from hard, I always go down & up & down the settings a couple of times to try & keep the adjusters nice & free (I lose count / mind wanders as well very often). After I've circumnavigated the range and checked the full adjustment is free, I count from the bottom to what I want ~ then tell my mind to concentrate ~ count up to top & back down. Dont know why really ~ probably just relaxing a bit after doing other more strenuous checks & whenever I've tried to rush it I lose count & have to start again. I just seem to have settled in to doing it this way? Its also mind set I guess ~ I try and keep the simple idea to use as little damping as will suffice.

your bloody right there re the copperslip. Dont think this on has ever been off. can get a bar in there and turn but just doesnt want to shift. it looks like the inserts on the shock are spinning with it when turning. have heated up and put plenty of penetration oil to.

I thought wehay when I got the top one out in about 10 minutes been at this bugger for a couple of hours now

Simon, hazy memory... but I think you may have to pop the nut back on to get some leverage with a pry bar..

turn & push, turn & push, turn & push, turn & push, turn & push, turn & push.....................

It'll come

Dave
Nearly sounds like a skin-flick script, sorry

When I changed my lower wishbones the top ones needed a bit of pressure under the end of the wishbone to take the weight off them but the bottom ones wouldn't come out. I ended up chopping the wishbone up so I could get to the nut with a hammer.

I think the real beauty of Nitrons (when you've managed to get them on that is ) is that you can wind them right up for track and right back down again for road. Little point in my mind just winding them up a few clicks. On a hot track day I set mine fully hard and then drop them 14 clicks or so for the road, a bit softer for the rear. I have 400lb and 300lb springs.
