Differences between models ?

Since the search engine for me doesn't seem to work quite so well, if you do know of a post to save explaining it please post it
But its just that basic new commer question, what model should I be looking at to buy ?
I would be looking to do some upgrades to the car, no only power but breaks, suspension ect.

Griffith History.

1992 Pre Cat Cars, available with 4.0 or 4.3 engine. A few Big Valve versions made. Rover Gear Box
1993 Production stopped, Chimeara with Cat.
1994 Re introduced as 500 with Cat.
by 96 Serpentine (fan belt) engine and Borg Warner T5 Box, gradual change.
Engine de-tuned for better low speed running.
2000/1 SE version with revised rear lights, and other changes.

Which one? Buy on condition - oh and budget and colour prefernces.
Two schools here - later is better, or 4.3BV for ultimate raw noise. (Okay 4.5BV if you can find a real one)

Budget will be around 10-12K roughly.
