Hi one and all,

Am in the process of buying my second fun weekend car which I have narrowed down to the following:

Lotus Elise - Had one before and loved it but not loud enough and tiny, tiny boot!

TVR Chimera - Love the looks and noise, so bad ones about, too many on the road?

TVR Griffith - Can't decide on the looks yet but growing on me, LOVE the noise.

So your thoughts particularly on why it should be a Grif over A Chim please to help me on my way to a final decision. I am seriosuly in the market to buy onein the next 2 weeks so all buying advice, helpful links, etc very warmly recieved!

For my limited budget I'm seem to be looking at 1992/93 cars with the 4.0 lump and of course pre cat!

1) You either love the Griff's looks and sound from the start.

or

2) You will succumb over time.

It's already in your heart, isn't it?

They look SO much better. The Chim reminds me far to much of old MGs.

yep..highley reccomend griff..dont know exactly why but i find they appeal more of an out right sports car than chimeara..may be its just the fact they look shorter and a little less practical than chims..having said that i use mine as daily driver ..all weather and love it.. go on you know you want one thumbup

Isn't the answer here?
Am I being thick or something because I don't understand why you want us to talk you into a Griff if you love the Chim but can't decide on the Griff.
Underneath a 4.0 precat they are the same, so get what does it to your heart, not your head.

Happy hunting, and I hope to see you at one of the events this year as a new owner in love with your TVR thumbup

The griff is definatley winning me over as there are less of them around and I think is more of a drivers car than the Chimmy.

Can you get enough gear in a Grif to go away for a long weekend with the g/friend....not stacks of gear just a decent size weekend bag.

Also what are the bad points to look for when viewing Grifs....

Take a look here... www.thegriffithpages.com/

p.s. Remember the Griff came first, it was Peter Wheeler's materpiece, the Chimp was a stopgap whilst Griffith production stopped before the AJP engine was finished

Get loads in it. Been to LeMans twice in mine - stacked the boot full, even with the roof in there too.

Better than you'd ever imagine. thumbup

Two full sets of golf clubs and trolley in mine...

JUST GO and look at one, they have a BIG boot, just the boot aperture makes it slightly tricky getting the roof in, ie ONE way to do it.

CF a simlar spec griff, the griff will probably cost more, BUT will Most probably hold its value better.

For me the Griffith is one of the few cars that looks great from all corners and has the pedigree to match. Ferrari 355 is in a similar league. I just dont like the look of the chim - same heart just ones a size 10 and the other a size 14 !!
