has anybody turbocharged or supercharged a 5.0 before if so was it drivable and what hp did it return

Working for another company some time back, I built a 4.9 blown engine, fantastic torque (from memory it had 320 ft /lb at 1500 rpm, rising to well over 400 ft/lb peak), still have the original dyno sheet kicking around somewhere. This was in a Rangie though, might be a little silly in a Tiv

T'was supercharged.
Turbo has been done before, (built an engine for a turbo griff years and years ago), in all honesty, you could probably get similar performance with better manners from a properly built 5.3 with a few goodies, may also save yourself a few pennies.
Is is just big numbers (powerwise) that you want?
Or do you want to have the fun of controlling a huuuge turbo'ed monster?

I've got a supercharged 5.2 litre in my Wedge. Uses a Vortech blower. Detuned to around 500bhp/500lbft spec. It is an animal but completely driveable. Biggest issues are drivetrain, clutch, cooling, etc etc which all become consumables and preventing the engine from shrapnelling itself.
