In common with many I'd like to provide extra legroom for my passenger (typically the wife who is 5ft 9in) but don't want to go down the route of moving the battery to the boot.

Has anyone considered fitting one of the small Odyssey type batteries (link below)in a Griff? They're not cheap in Europe but I'm in the States in a few weeks and am thinking about picking one up. Would it be up to the job? I believe the Morgan Aero8 uses a gel type small battery though don't know if it is this one.

Cheers

I've considered this, but they don't have the Amp/Hr capacity that i need.If i went away in mine for several days(i frequently do),i couldn't feel that i could leave it for long without a trickle charger.

Also read the small print... If I remember correctly lead acid batteries are prohibited on aircraft. Wouldn't want you to cause a terrorist alert!

The other issue is these batteries do not like being left with a small load connected e.g. alarm system as it seriously detoriates the battery life.

I use a pair of Red Top 20s in the 520 which gives a reasonable amount of current capacity and remove one when I am competing.

Have one red top 20 in mine and a spare that will plug in if I let it go flat.

I used the rule of thumb ... get the biggest, most powerful battery that fitted!

In fact, I wouldn't mind a new one for this current car but cannot remember the power of the last one for the life of me. Anyone know which are the best battery size to go for and are there any places that are better for price?

I remember when i was trawling around the usual battery outlets I received a lot of conflicting size info ... hence went for the most powerful

Al,

I got my last one a Bosh from Andrew Pages in Hull, they had a few to pick from at various prices etc.

Cheers,

Simon.

I think the one I have is around 620 cranking amps (the old one was around 590).
Hope this is the right number you were after and I don't get slated as a numpty.
