Alarm replacement - a good idea

I have a Griff 500 with a Gemini alarm. Both keyfobs are a bit flaky and I don't want to get stuck one day not being able to get in the car.

Can I get replacement fobs, or is the alarm of sufficient vintage to consider a decent replacement (and ones that drain the battery less).

Is there a plug in replacement or is it job that will require a re-wire ?

You can still get the keyfobs (in fact i have a spare one here i think) Gemini no longer exist but the keyfobs look the same just unbranded. 15min job for an alarm installer to program the it to your alarm. I think i paid £40-50 for one 18 months ago.

I'm in the process of deciding what to replace my dead Foxgaurd system with - by all accounts the old system has to be uninstalled before a new one goes in i.e. you cannot 'piggy back' a new system on, so much disruption required....

Guys before you part with your cash give Carl Baker a call and talk to him about the Meta system alarms.

One of the main reasons alarms fail on our motors is due to the high under bonnet temps

The Meta alarm seems to be able to cope with that better than most.

Carl is a top bloke and someone will come along with a link to his site within an hour or two.

I had problems with the immibilser on mine due to the excessive heat and was at a loss. I gave Carl a call and he ran through the system and new all the possible problems. He soon gave me a solution and came and replaced the Meta immobiliser with the later version and has been fine since. All I can say is he a top guy and very helpful. A true find.
