Freind has a 1999 500,and it wont start. It wont turn over when you have de-immobilised it,and the fuel pump doesn't prime. The pump will run if given 12v,clean connectors, and 12v not there on attmpt to start, and the bosch silver relays both check out fine. The alarm/immobiliser system beeps when used, which i havent heard of before, but i'm unclear if it beeps when activated or it's when de-activated.All fuses ok.All help welcome

The alarm may beep, but does it actually allow the fuel pump circuit to be completed?

I have a wiring diagram for this, but don't really want to post the details here for obvious reasons. Phone me if you want to talk through it.

You may find this very similar thread on the Chimaera forum helpful.

Try hard reset of the alarm/immobiliser ~ I think they must have been designed by Bill Gates

Sounds like the relay(s) in the immobiliser brick may have broken.. Do the doors unlock when you disarm the alarm? If the alarm is 'disarming' but not reconnecting the various circuits then I would think that either the signal from the alarm to the immobiliser is not getting through, or it is getting through but the relay or relays may be sticking. If all the fuses are ok then I would try lifting the dash up and going through the alarm connections with a multimeter to see if a signal is getting to the immobiliser...

Have you tried starting the car with alarm activated? (they sometimes get out of sync with the door locking... which is what a reset would normally cure).

Otherwise you will either be in bypass wiring mode or Carl Baker'ing... Depends whether you need it fixing or starting?

I had this same problem last weekend. It worked fine after leaving it for an hour.

The fact that the starter doesn't turn the engine over removes the fuel pump relays from the diagnosis. Does the light on the immobiliser start flashing if left for 60 seconds with the ignition off?

I could recreate the symptoms by removing the bus connector from the immobiliser. It's underneath the stereo cage in my car so pretty easy to access. Perhaps yours is loose?

Alternatively, try the immobiliser wiring connector which might be visible by reaching through the glovebox opening towards the radio. If not, remove the left hand vent next to the radio. It has lots of plain black wires going to it, along with the critical white/red starter wire.

Wiring and alarm locations may change, mine's a 1996 car.
