For the past two weeks my battery has been getting worse and not holding its charge and now even when trying to recharge it it only gets to around 10v and obviously not enough to start it. What battery should I get and does it really take and hour to take the old one out and the new one in
Yes - if you haven't got it Steve Heath's bible is very useful for what would seem to be a bog standard job. You will have to dig into the footwell to get at it, and lift all of the wires and ECU etc out of the way. Best bit of advice in Steve's book is to mark very carefully the position of the battery box before you unscrew the retaining bolts under the car and move it. Ii can be a swine to get back in the right place.

Replacing the battery isn't difficult per-se, but access is difficult and you need to get your hands under the car to undo a couple of nuts holding the battery bracket in place.
Lift the carpet, pull out the ecu and all associated gubbins, draw with a big marker on the floor where the bracket is sitting now, undo the nuts under the car and pull the bracket out, pull out the battery, swap battery and put it all back. From memory I think thats about it.

Its not that bad. The battery is held in a fibreglass box thats bolted to the floor by to bolts accessed from underneath the car (no need to jack it up you can reach them)
Before removing the box mark its location on the floor inside otherwise its a nightmare lining the bolts back up again.
Other than that its straightforward.
It is easy to remove the passenger seat which allows a lot better access (4 bolts again under the floor)
