Came up behind a nice blue M5 yesterday afternoon, guessing about 2001-2003 vintage. Also guessed that he had clocked me ... mainly as at the first opportunity he took off round the two cars in front like a scalded cat 
Lovely bit of road, few straights, a few twisties ... so I catch him up when he is held up by the next cars, and yet again, he gets the head start around them leaving me to play quite a spirited game of catch up.
Eventually, he turns off and we both
and wave.
All I can say is:
On a straight run I would have given him a fair run for his money no doubt, maybe even had the edge but,
On the twisties ... IF my car hadn't been bouncing around like a demented Tigger ... and IF it hadn't had the handling of a drunken power boat ... and IF the shocks and bushes and Geo were even only half way like they should be ....
then I still don't think I'd have had a cat in hells chance of sticking with the big M.
Bloody good fun (in a sort of a seat of the pants kind of a way) though

I remember having a nice Blat with a AM in Newport Pagnell, must have been fresh out of the workshop. I think I gave him a bit off a surprise as he gave johnny large and this one didnt get left behind. We tanked along along a couple of lenghts of Dual carriageway and 1 roundabout

He probably doesn't know the road any more than I do to be honest - it's just it confirmed what I knew before but hadn't ever seen in the flesh ... used in anger those M5s are phenomenal
Mind you I wasn't very happy lurching around like a space hopper. The amount of braking I was having to do to get the car anywhere near set up for the corners would have been giving him at a guess about 100 yards every corner.
The more I think about it the more peed off I'm getting about just how badly the car handles
Nothing that can't be sorted, it's just money that I didn't want to have to spend.
I was swaying (no pun intended!) towards the quality of the uprated Bilstein dampers from TVR power but now I'm really not sure whether they would be stiff enough for fast road use.
Anyone here tried them yet?
Simon - what were those you have just got? And have you fitted them yet?
Car is booked in with Ian at Torque week after next for a thorough service but I think the dampers may have to wait another month or so.

I had a similar rant about 6 months ago. About a month later I noticed the rear antiroll bar mount had snapped which didn't help!
However, when fixed it still dived and rolled while still managing to be massively uncomposed on rough surfaces.
I got the car back from Offords this week having had a full geo setup and Nitrons fitting. What a difference!
It's not cheap, but I cannot recommend it enough!

I went for the Gaz option, but as yet I haven’t got it all sorted did have a few problems. At the moment I’ve only got the rears on but not set up properly.
The Toyota unexpectedly spent the last couple of weeks in the garage so I didn’t want to take the Griff of the road as well and were away this weekend so….

I went Nitrons in the end, Have fitted and boy they do make a difference, and I still havent had a full geo and played with the settings too much yet
Too be completely honest I just went for the best I could afford at the time which I belive was the Nitrons. I would have no quarms ( sp?) buying the Gaz's Protechs etc and nearly did buy some Gaz golds last year..
Must also admit i wish I had done it a lot earlier, gotta to be one of the first mods/upgrades to do.
