I'm planning on touring with the Griff into France this summer, and so thought I would get myself a collection of the usual spares to take with me...

I got a couple of relays for the Fuel Pump / ECU: Bosch 0 332 014 112, and thought to myself that I might as well install them now and take the old ones as spares...

I removed the old ones, and connected the new, and then on further inspection found that the old ones were not both type 0332014112, one was, but other is 0332014113?! Also, not sure which was connected to the Black / Blue Connector?

There is a little diagram on the side of the relay, and the 113 is very similar to the 112 but has no diode (on the input to line marked 86)

I'm guessing the diode is there for extra protection, so I should have no problems using type 112 for both ECU and Fuel pump, and are quite a few posts stating this, but can't find anything referencing the type 113 relay, and am curious as to why I had a type 113 installed in the first place, maybe a shortage of type 112’s when mine was built??

Any ideas / comments?

PS My Griff is an early-ish (March) 1995 500 Serp

IIRC the diode is there as "flyback" protection. It gives the relay coil something to disipate any current into when the voltage is turned off. This is a good thing to have as it can save the more sensitive electronics from damage.

Both of my relays had diodes when I removed the old wiring harness for the new ECU.
