Strange.

yesterday it was up for 20k and said it was a cat d write off repaired at a cost of 12k, today all that is gone and the price is up ???

Its listed in Autotrader at 20k with the full Cat D info but still states its No.57 which it clearly isn't since 57 is alive and kicking elsewhere.

That looks like 59 though the reg plate is wrong. That reg is not listed on the SE website.
I have e-mailed the seller.

Dunno - 59 has a Ali dash with white dials = this one has wood with black dials.

Somethings fishy here me thinks! If its an umolested true fine example then at £23k it's way to cheap (should be £25min-£30), however if its a cat D write off then best of luck shifting it and where are the details on the classifieds?

No reply from the seller yet. It does look a bit odd, doesn't it? It definitely isn't on the SE website. And as you say wood dash, not metal so couldn't be no59. In the photos the interior looks more like portland and prussian blue than cream & blue as described.

Wife gave me the horrors last night: "You are sure that it isn't yours that's the impostor?!"

I think your safe, this one is looking very dubious. Is the glovebox plaque the only record of the SE No.?

No, the front page of the handbook will also say the number. I think the V5 lists the model as a Griffith 500SE as well. The boot badge says Special Edition on it too.
Studying the pics on the advert, It has all the right SE modifications - Chim dash, Tusc wing mirrors & air vents, Cerb seats, Clear indicator lenses. If you see it check that it has 16" wheels at the front. It's registration and alleged age are ok too.
Can't speak for the cat D thing, but it looks like an SE, just not no57

That reminds me.. IIRC I saw a number plaque up on fleabay a few months ago, didnt give it a second thought at the time, should have made a note of the number I guess

Just had e-mail from seller confirming it is no69. It's not one that is listed on the SE website.
