Guys,

Just found out that my toyo T-1R's are not (anymore) up to the job, especially on the track, so the 888's came highly recommended as a replacement. What do you think of them for daily use? Any major drawbacks? Heard something about lot of noise at high speed or poor ride quality?

Hi gerjo,

go for it!

only probs are with standing water (which would be a problem anyway)

stiffer sidewalls do mean more tramlining/noise etc, but its minumal and if you drop 2lb all round its hardly noticeable.

R888s are worth 11secs at Spa for me so well worth it. hard wearing too in a Griff.

BTW you might want to keep an eye on tvrmonster if you are after TOYOs

this is funny - tvrmonster.com goes to a North West Biodiversity website
but www.tvrmonster.com goes to yours.

hi Andy,

how is life?

thanks for this, think I indeed will go for the 888's. Can't hear the tyres anyway because of my loud engine/exhaust. What pressure are you running them?

can't find any tyres on your website?

see you

Hi Andy

Can you tell me what pressure you run your Griffith's R888s at when on track?

FWIW I run my R888s at 22/24 cold. Although they have very stiff sidewalls, they feel softer than SO3s. Much stiffer than just about anything else though.

On track, I keep mine at about 28 hot.

do the 888's have a temperature rating as i know some track tyres which are unusable below 8° C ambient ( not tyre)

hi again mate, thats because we have litterally JUST got the agency today!

All the info is going to my web guys tomorrow and hopefully it will be up there on the site very soon.
We'll put the TVR std sizes up first (Griff/Chim-Cerby-Tussie) then put them all up soon after.

I have used R888s exclusively for around 3 years, had the fifth set in the country and have been VERY happy with them over all conditions (except snow ). I am only putting Dunlops on our Race Wheels because the challenge dictates them.

details will be up soon, not sure about the low temp query...i'll get onto Tech Support first thing tomorrow.

Loads of info on one of our Techy pages here... www.tvrmonster.co.uk/tyresup.html

but I'd say that GarryM is pretty much spot on on track but you may wish to run lower on normal road use ie 20/22 to aid comfort. i've had no probs...even at sustained 150mph+

Andy,

Will these tyres be a mail order thing direct from you, if so whats the delivery times? or will Richard be stocking them for you?
I only ask as I am about to get 888's for my spare wheels for a trackday later this month.

Guys,

I see there are several types of R888 namely: GG, GGG and SG. On the pictures they all look the same.
Which one should I get?

Hey Gerjo

These are compound indicators. GG(harder) - SG(softer)

for combination use (road/track) GG is fine and the hardest wearing (I use these) but SG is the best for track work.

having said that I have never reached the limits of the GG and its give the longest life/mileage, so that would be my recommendation.
