From www.thegriffithpages.com/alternative-parts-list.html

Maplin and RS components

Small round (3mm) Cylindrical ones with a flat top are made by Kingbright, stock nos; L424HDT Red, L424GDT Green.

Maplin order codes; YH72 red, YH73 green.
RS stock numbers; 247-1139 red,229-2497 Green.

Triangular ones are also made by Kingbright, stock number L-323GD (Green) and L-323YD (Yellow).
Maplin supposedly stock the green ones as YY55k, but not the yellow ones.

Found these people selling all sorts of LED's but havnt had the time to see if they sell the right 1's www.eleinmec.com/shop_category.asp?126

Sorry to hijack the thread but my Griff has 6 LEDs on top of the steering column shroud. 3 that flash when indicating right and 3 for when indicating left. They are really visible and help make sure that I cancel the indicators after a turn... would like to put the same on my W3dge paperbag - how does one wire up an LED - is it as simple as earth to one leg and live from indicator to the other ? confused

To wire up an LED, you need to connect the cathode (usually the shorter leg) to earth, and the anode to the power supply with a serial resistor. You'll know if it's the wrong way round cos it won't light up (just spin it round). eg

Earth--------(short leg)Diode(long leg)-----resistor R------ +12.8V

The value of the resistor is R = (12.8 - Vf) / Imax where Vf is the diode's voltage drop and Imax is the the maximum forward current for the diode. Typical values are Vf=2.5V and I=20ma which gives
R = (12.8 - 2.5) / 0.02 = 500ohms approx. (go for the nearest value above this you can get)
If you make R bigger (eg 1000ohms) you won't blind yourself with a powerful led. Substitute your own values into the above formula...

Roy, assume they arrived ok? Did they fit ok or need filing down a little? Only ever done them on Leven dashes and they are always too tight.

They arrived the next day.Top bloke thanks again. They needed a litle filing but i think that was due to a litle excess lacquer in the holes. Looks the muts nuts now. London Carriage Craft have done a very very good job.
