I went to see it in November, the hisory is clear, and he has these letters from the factory which proove what he says, so it is actualy a special car.
The current owner had it for less than one year whe i went, and almost did not drive it at all, he had it inspected by Rob Ingleby when he bought it.
me I gave up for 2 reasons, firstly the owner behaviour, he had that fresh ingleby report when he bought it, he told me, but somehow, did not want to send me a copy and send me through Ingleby to have it...?? still I did. Also it was in November, and the car price had been lowered for a few weeks (well under the current asked price), and just the day before I went to see the car, sudenly the price was up again...rolleyes
The car is very nice, the only thing is that when I went, the guy had not done any serive since he had it, so the last service was about 1 year before, which could be now maybe 1,5 year ago if he still did not service it since, that was not big problem for me if reflected in the price but the guy did not want any offer, and because there was around that price a few very good 500 around, I went for a 500.
I dont have the ingleby report here with me but i remember well a few interesting details so if somebody is interested, contact me.

Sorry mate, I know nothing about it.

If it's all true it's a cracker - still a bit steep though IMHO. An 'original', unmessed with pre-cat is something special, add to that it's a BV... lick
Were I still looking I'd pay £12,000 if it's as the ad claims.

I dont care about the service side...got my own factory lads to take care of that for me!

The owner being an arse is more relevent though! I hate it when they do that

I reckon your undervaluing there LG.A nice 4.3 would be £12k and a BV would be a bit more, due to the rarity. Its also a very saleable colour, which helps.I reckon it's £13-14K ish myself, all imho of course

well, a 4,3BV is a special car, and I was really interested by one. But the price of the 500 nowadays have obviously puted everything down, and to find a buyer who want a BV "enough" to pay more than a good 500 4-5 years newer, is not that easy i think.
That BV, which I really think is a very interesting one has been advertised since last september, for me clearly the owner does not help the sale for sure, but the current ads price is for exemple higher than what the Ingleby report advise to pay for it, still for anybody wanting a BV, it worth a serious look for sure.

Seems to be a lot of plain old 4.3 in the ads too!

I want the one for sale at Offords (not that I've seen it, could justify another or get it past the other half of course... )

Ok, a little confused by the sentiment in here these days. I cant quite understand why on earth a Griffith enthusiast would want a normal 500 over a genuine 4.3BV, let alone anybody who would pay more for one!

Because a sorted 500 is a better car ?! more usable... don't have to wear ear defenders to talk...

It's not all max power how loud is your exhaust is...

After all. the 500 was a further development to be BETTER than a 4.3bv,

I wasnt talking about that per se, but the sentiment a cpl of yrs ago was definately the other way round, that the BV's were *the* most sought after cars. Having been out of the Griff game for a cpl of yrs, its a bit of a shock to look back in and suddenly find ppl are almost ambivalent about the genuine BVs.

A better and tighter genuine one of the 4 is on sale at HHC up in hexham at the moment.
Its a nice car if you are specifically looking for 1 of the original 4.

Neil.

Dont let the knockers distract you... If they are good genuine cars, they will hold their value far better than the 'mass produced' Griffs. There was obviously a lot more craft/graft put into them which may make them less desirable to some...
IMHO you can't take anybodys views of thecars at face value ~ if there are 2 to look at you will have to give them the once over yourself.
