Evening all, ive posted this in the griff forum as it looks theres a few RV8 tuners in here
. As the heading says really just found out my cams worn. I read the excellent cam post last week and have a few questions.
Im thinking about a stealth or h404 but would i need a full re map to run these or would my standard 450 chip be ok?
What sort of cost for a kit?
What comes in a kit?
And where do i buy one from?

give Rob at v8 developments a call, or Jamie at castle race engines.
a kit should come with timing chain, and gaskets ect, but be prepared to have to replace the rockers and or even the lifters, you`ll find out the condition of these once you strip the top end down.
are you looking to do this yourself or paying someone to do the work for you?
you really need to have a chat with the guys mentioned above, as some cams will really need a remapped ecu to run nicely, the stealth cam is a good one, quinny loves his, and I used a piper 285, both run nicely on the standard ecu.
I`m sure you`ll have plenty of options before the day is over!

Thanks for the advice Clive Ive got my heads going to Jamie at CRE for some work this week, also spoke to V8D today looks as though stealth cam it is.

I think before you go any further you really need to put a post up of what you want or should i say how you want your car to drive? you mention either the 404 or the stealth, trust me these are so far apart in the way the car drives ask quinny who is a member on here!. from a personal front i dont like selling the 404 anymore although i designed it! unless you drive around at a rev range varying from 4000 to 6500 it is a crap road going cam.

I had a read through a few of the older posts last night one of which was a quinny post and to be honest was kinda put off the 404 mostly down to the driving around town manners dept, the stealth to me seems a better all around choice - only time will tell.
Oh - I liked my Mech 404.
Love it.
But it must be said - it needed re-mapping and when I got it back from Mark Adams - it was still not great but to his credit he had a second go at it and really fine tuned the driveability and made a superb job of it. It now has the road manners of a pussy cat at low speed and a Lion at high revs.
