After a recent service, I find a matt residue on the rear of the car. Obviously coming from the exhaust but what does this mean ? Any ideas ?

A recent post on a similar sounding problem was traced to an additive put in the oil by the service people (same location to you as well).... this took the poster a few years to find out......

I can't find the post though so not sure which garage it was ....

Hoover - your 'de man !! Spot on, recent service was Racing Green so I'm going to speak with Martin on Monday. I was very impressed with Racing Green so let see their response.

Just to complete this thread, Racing Green do add an oil additive to reduce engine wear. My Griffith does like a drop of oil so I guess the more you burn, the worse the mess left on the rear of the car. Racing Green have now changed the oil to Mobil 1 and problem solved .. at no charge so full faith restored.
