giving my baby a good run this afternoon and all of a suddon, red light on dash (ignition), alarm bells rang and i pulled over worried about oil pressure etc.
anyway the oil pressure was good, so next the alternator came to mind, and hey presto the voltmeter was only reading 11/12v
drove home and tested engine not running - 12v, engine running 12v , ah so me needs a new alternator!
anyway i was expexting between 80-110 notes
fecking £171 later i walked out with a new one - im not impressed - that is dam expensive !
i know i was in a hurry and if i had shopped around i may have got one cheaper, but what a joke!
now someone complete my misery and tell me how little they paid for one lol :-)

yeah checked the 100a fuse pasco, and broke the bloody cover off it at the same time duh!
it was ok, so i put the multimeter on the back of the alternator to check it.
12v engine not running = ok, 12 engine running = not ok! should be 13-14 ish volts running, fitted the new one and all ok, except my pockey is alot lighter! grrrrr.

Another benefit of owning an early griff.....apart from the noise etc.....

That's nothing. Just replaced the clutch and dual mass flywheel in the wife's Espace £1416.
My Griff did'nt cost that much to service in 4 years of ownership.
