mirrors, again!

I have no idea how the glass (with plastic bit stuck to it} attaches to the motor bit. Am I missing another part? If you see a seemingly demented bloke wandering around at Chatsworth with mirror parts in one hand please give him some help. John,

If you look at the black plastic ring on the front of the motor inside the mirror body you will see a little black plastic tag at the bottom. This will move left or right as you lever it with a screw driver and it will move little locking tabs round. These tabs lock onto the black ring on the back of the glass.
What you need to do is move this mirror mounting ring with the electrical adjustment so that the top edge of the glass would be as far back into the mirror body as possible. Then place the mirror glass in position and you will be able to see the little black tag below the glass push this tag with a fine screwdriver either left or right (I can't rememember which way but it's obvious) and that locks the glass in place.

Had the 2nd edition of MrHeath's book, plus reading lots on here, I was STILL unable to release the mirrors on me Chim; either side!
When I took it to a mate that knows about these things he got it off, but pointed out it was a bit stiff - might never have been removed!
I'll be loooobing up the plastic ring before it goes back together...
