Width and Length of a Griff
Discussion
I'm hoping one of you guys may be able to help me.
I am currently running a V8s at present and am seriously thinking about upgrading to a griff 500. I originally wanted a Griff but bought the S at the time because of the tight entrance and approach into my garage. I now have an opportunity to make some structural changes that will improve my access into the garage. Before making a final decision I want to feel confident that a Griff with its extra width will fit my smallish garage and that structural changes will make the approach possible.
I have checked different web sites and have failed to find a consistent set of dimensions (width incl mirrors and length), so wondered if one of you has the dimensions or could measure your car?
Many thanks
Roger

Length: 153.001 in / 3886.2 mm.
Width: 76.001 in / 1930.4 mm.
Add a couple of inches each side for your mirrors, but they do fold in ... but if it's that tight, how are you going to get out of the car?!
The Griff is not a big car and fits easily in a modern shoebox sized single garage.

Its about 3 inches shorter and 14 inches wider than the S
The problem I have is more the approach than the physical size of the garage, which is 2.4 metres wide but only has a garage door width of 2.1 metres. This coupled with the fact that once I have got the car about 3 feet out of the garage I then have to turn at 90 degrees between my gates which are 6 feet high and 12 feet wide to get onto my drive and the road (oh the joys of living with garage that is part of a converted barn!). I can manage this with the S, but it would be extremely tight or impossible with a Griff. An accident waiting to happen, stoved in front, back wing or scraped door on the gate post.
The gates are now in need of replacement, so I'm thinking (can justify) moving the gate post a foot or so further away from the side of the garage and increasing the width of the gates to 14 feet, which I believe may just about give me enough room to manoeuvre a Griff.

...and carpet fixed to the walls for door opening and also either a tennis ball dangling from the ceiling or wooden blocks screwed into the floor, where the beauty should stop when inside!!
Carpet on the walls must be wilton or axminster
and wood on the floor must be Oak
Like mine and Grahams garage
No way the Griff is 14 inchres wider than the s or at least the V8s. Getting the S in the driveway gates was tight, but the Griff was unacceptably so. I modified the pair of gates into one large gate which gained me the thickness of one gate (about 2 inches ) and the Griff slides in with 2 about inches either side, that is with one mirror folded in. As the mirror protrudes slightly more than the bodywork I always take the view that provided the passenger mirror just clears then the body is well clear. On the drivers side you can see want is happening.
I measured things and marked a line down the drive with an angle grinder. Provided the wheels are on the line then I know that the side I can’t see is clear.

Ive just got the S out and have physically measured the width, excluding mirrors its 65" inches but including the mirrors it goes out to 72". So the body is approx 11" wider, but including the mirrors this comes down to nearer 7". Looking at the Griff the body is more rounded and the mirrors do not protrude as much as they do on an S.
Therefore I have gone ahead and ordered larger gates and a new gate post and once installed I will pad out the sides of the S a best I can to replicate a Griff and attempt to park up in the garage. Unless one of you good folks would like to risk scraping your P&J parking up in my garage.
Any way many thanks for your input, will let you know the outcome early in June. Will either have a big smile on face or feel p__sed of after spending cash that could have been spent on the S. That said new gates will make it easier for me to get the S in the garage in a risk free way.
