Queer radiator hose position
Discussion
On the topic of hoses, I found what I think was a problem.
The steel section of the bottom hose on mine was not running paralell to the long axis of the chassis, it was angled quite sharply towards the middle of the car and clamped to the front cross member. This angle decreased the bend radius of the hose attaching to the water pump causing it to kink a bit when hot, it was also slightly fouling the fan belt. I repositioned the hose to stop the kinking and get some belt clearance, and found that the bottom radiator hose was kinked down to half its diameter when hot. The bottom hose was clearly too long. Shortening the engine end of the bottom rubber hose has stopped the kinking and belt fouling and the engine definitely runs cooler.
